Asia's AI stocks fell after the industry asked to be slowed down.
SoftBank, the biggest outside investor in OpenAI, fell 10.7% in Tokyo on Monday. Korea's Kospi lost 3.3%, and memory chipmakers there fell as much as 6.4%. Investors were reacting to Sam Altman backing Anthropic's call to slow the whole industry.
Why it mattersThe market is now pricing safety promises as lost revenue. If restraint costs this much, promises tend to get quieter.
