Microsoft made $10 billion from OpenAI in just three months.
Microsoft's quarterly filing on Wednesday shows $10 billion in revenue from OpenAI between July and September. That is nearly 11% of all Microsoft revenue, and OpenAI also owed it $7.2 billion. In the whole previous year, OpenAI brought Microsoft $24.1 billion.
Why it mattersMuch of Microsoft's AI growth comes from one customer that also competes with it. If OpenAI cuts its spending, Microsoft's cloud business would feel it quickly.
