Amazon started selling ads that sit inside ChatGPT answers.
Amazon opened an American pilot on Thursday that places ads beneath ChatGPT replies. Advertisers buy the space through Amazon's own system, while OpenAI decides where each ad appears. Delta Vacations is among the first brands testing it, and every ad carries a label.
Why it mattersThe answer you read is now a place somebody paid to stand in. Ads already earn OpenAI about a billion dollars a year, so expect more of them.
