The FTC has demanded testimony from Anthropic's executives.

The US Federal Trade Commission sent the demands on Monday, an agency spokesperson told Axios and The Hill. Earlier this month, Anthropic and OpenAI both got 50-page demands for documents on safety incidents. People at other AI companies were also called to testify, but the agency has not named them.

Why it mattersThe probe asks whether AI companies harmed or misled consumers, so it could change how chatbots are built and sold. Anthropic warned investors in its stock-market filing that the probe could bring big costs and model changes.
