Korean police say a self-taught hacker used AI to hit 90 groups.

Seoul police said Monday they caught seven people accused of hacking Korean hospitals, universities and firms with generative AI. The group stole 8.2 million records and demanded 360 million won, about $272,000, from 38 victims. The leader is now with prosecutors, and police say all stolen personal data was recovered.

Why it mattersPolice say the attacks grew much larger once the leader began leaning on AI. Small targets like clinics and private academies were hit, so keeping software patched now matters for everyone.
