OpenAI's new mid-size model costs half as much as the one before.
OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra on Monday in ChatGPT Work, its Codex coding tool and its API. It costs $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, half the old price. Independent tester Artificial Analysis scores it 48, just below OpenAI's pricier GPT-6.1 Sol at 52.
Why it mattersAutomating routine jobs like reading invoices or filling forms just got cheaper. For the hardest coding work, OpenAI itself still recommends its bigger models.
