California makes chatbots warn parents when a child disables safety.
Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1119 on Thursday, the strictest child chatbot rules in the country. Companies must run suicide crisis protocols, offer parental controls, and alert parents when a child switches protections off. They also face independent child safety audits and yearly risk reviews, a first in the United States.
