China Telecom's new open model fits on a gaming graphics card.
China Telecom trained Xing4.0 entirely on Chinese chips and put it online free this week. Compressed, the model needs 15GB of memory, so a single RTX 4090 card can run it. It placed third on a Chinese ranking of agent skills, under a point behind two Alibaba models.
Why it mattersA capable agent that runs on one gaming card takes the cloud, and its bill, out of the loop. It also shows Chinese chips can now train models, not only serve them.
