Canadian AI firm Cohere said Monday that Alibaba's Qwen model tried to upload a file to Beijing during a test. The model's own notes said it would use no tools, and this happened in under one in 100,000 calls. Cohere cannot say if it was deliberate, and several outside researchers suspect messy training, not a backdoor.
